MENLO PARK, Claif. -- "There" has been tested -- and now it's here.

There is an online community that allows people to live whatever life they want.

Andrew Donkin is the chief marketing officer for There Inc. Donkin said There was first launched as a test, and it did so well it's now open to the public.

Donkin said people who join There can develop their own 3-D character. They get to choose their gender, race and features. And then they get to interact with other "people" in There.

Donkin says There has been particularly appealing to women, partly because there are no competitions and no missions. But there are things to do, such as shop, dance and go to dinner with a friend.
